Thanks again for the replies and consideration. I should also say that the search works properly as regards the applications
I do not know to what degree it is relevant but, I am using Cortana and OneDrive. Currently, the index location is: “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft”. Only one disk and only one partition (C:). I also ticked “Index encrypted files” for I am using Bitlocker with a password. I am indexing pretty much all the folders (except the few default excluded folders such as ProgramData), with the “Index Properties and File Contents” ticked. But, so far, nothing came up or solved the problem. As I said before, I also tried rebuilding the index several times (I am using an SSD-drive, so it is not a big burden to rebuild the index),Ĭhanging the index directory and double-checked if there is any problem with the drive itself. More than a couple of times, actually, but it found no problem. *** I am copying the info about my system here again for convenience:
It would be so nice to hear if you have any possible for solutions for me. It has been a while since I answered you questions but so far I have not received a reply from you. If the issue persists, do get back to us. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click
It makes sure that the Windows Search service is running,Īnd checks to see whether you have the correct permissions to search all the directories on your computer. I am sorry to know that you are facing issues with Windows 10. Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. Thanks again for the replies and consideration, I hope that the information will be enough to find a solution to my problem for it is highly annoying not to be able to take the advantage of the search while using the PC. (and a solid system which runs 4 th generation i7 and 12gb ram), I think that there is something awry with this and I suppose this is related to the index problem. Considering the fact that I am using a decent SSD drive The said amount of time is about 10-20seconds. Every time I try to save something in the computer (be it a MS Word document or a pdf), when I click on the path/this computer/save location icon to designate the aimed directoryįor the file, the application gets into “not responding” mode for a certain amount of time and only after that time the directory selection window opens. I should also report another strange behaviour which may be related. I am able to reach through search is a specific folder that is on my desktop. However, no single individual folder or file is appearing when I am searching for them with the exception of a few folders that seems randomly scattered around the system (I mean, not in a certain location).
The index directory and double-checked if there is any problem with the drive itself. As I said before, I also tried rebuilding the index several times (I am using an SSD-drive, so it is not a big burden to rebuild the index), changing First of all, many thanks for the replies.
